2. The gasket test: Stick a piece of paper in the door of your refrigerator and freezer. If you can easily pull it out, it is time for new gaskets.
3. Order some new gaskets: Start searching online for an appliance parts dealer and order some new gaskets. If you are not sure about the exact one needed, you can call the parts dealer for that information. Just make sure you have your model number on hand.
4. Remove the old gasket and prep the new one: Your new gasket will come in a box and it will be twisted and bent so you will need to soak it with warm water or place it into the dryer for roughly ten minutes. You can begin your prep work while the new gasket is loosening up. You will want to roll back to gasket in order to expose the retainer bar and then loosen all of the screws about two turns each. You will not want to unscrew them completely as you will end up with some problems. Pull the gasket outwards once they are loosened so that it comes out from underneath the retainer bars.
5. New gasket installation: Once the worn out gasket is taken out, you will want to take the new refrigerator or freezer gasket and push it into place by pushing the rounded bead part behind the lip of the brackets. You will want to work around the door and tighten or second or third screw in order to make sure that the gasket is being kept in place. If it will help, you will want to use a flat blade screw driver in order to push the bead into place, especially when you are working around the corners. Once everything is in place, you will want to put the door into the closed position. If it looks as though the door is warped, you will know that you have the screws too tight. You will want to open the door and check the screws. If you find that the magnetic seal is not correctly contacting the frame, you will want to use a hair dryer to heat the refrigerator gasket until it properly expands. When the refrigerator or freezer gasket is properly installed, you will want to use some duct tape to keep the door in place for a couple of days in or to make sure that it properly seals itself.
