All About The Wonderful Fukien Bonsai Variety

The reason why many individuals love buying Bonsai of this species is that it has naturally tiny leaves. And just like any other species, the Fukien tea has its own set of temperature, light, and water wishes. Plainly, your bonsai will grow fitter the better its desires are met.

The Fukien bonsai tea tree is also known as Fujian tea and goes by the scientific name, Ehretia Microphylla. The species is named after the Chinese Fujian province where it is local to. It naturally flourishes in heat and bright places, so it's a good idea to put it on an east-facing windowsill if you decide to grow one as an indoor plant.

Temperature

Notice that the Fukien bonsai is unlikely to do well when exposed to extreme cold or snowy areas. It can survive winter temperatures of only as low as sixty degrees F. As regards heat, there shouldn't be any problem placing this tree in heated areas, as long as it is kept well-watered.

Light

If you intend to grow your Fukien trees indoors, then you need to put them in an area which has about 1000 lux. It's best to put your bonsai by a window where indirect daylight can provide it with the necessary lightness during the day. You'll have to use synthetic bonsai lighting at night to keep your plant healthy.

Water

Just like any other species being cultivated in this art form, the Fukien tea prospers in a damp atmosphere. Watch out, though, not to let it get damp, as it is sure to suffer when drenched or left to stand in water for too much time. To get the best results, always use fast-draining soil. Additionally, you have got to avoid watering your tree by immersing it in water. And if your Fukien bonsai are kept outdoors, then you need to water less often in the winter.
