The Royal Horticultural Society runs a number of events throughout the year. Tatton brings all the loveliness of summer with beautiful displays that give inspiration to gardeners for wedding flowers, as well as good food and drink. Families and friends can organize their catering before they arrive by pre-ordering hampers to enjoy in the show ground.
For those who enjoy watching fierce competition, then the Taunton show is for them. Amateurs and professionals enter a huge variety of classes from cookery and photography to the more traditional horticultural classes giving visitors a feast of delightful exhibitions. 2011 sees a particular emphasis on dahlias in the floral displays.
Each year the Harrogate Autumn Show brings together several national societies to display the very best in flowers such as dahlias, chrysanthemums and gladioli giving great ideas for wedding flowers with an autumnal feel. Giant vegetables can also be on display although these are unlikely to make it in to a bouquet of wedding flowers for all but the bravest of brides. Most of this event is held under cover and so is a safe bet for an uncertain season weather-wise.
Another autumn show is held at Malvern each year. Inspiration for the next summer season's picnic hampers can be taken from the mouth-watering displays of local produce such as delicious honeys, jams and chutneys. Visitors can also take in varied exhibitions from fruit and vegetables, cookery demonstrations and even vintage farm machinery.
One of the most famous flower shows is held by the RHS each summer at Hampton Court Palace. The gardens and parks at Hampton Court make an amazing backdrop for this celebration and the show seeks to give inspiration to gardeners, florists and brides alike for their wedding flowers. When guests need to take a break from looking over the 50 show gardens, many choose to revive themselves by setting out their hampers and picnicking on the lawns.
The RHS Chelsea Flower Show is perhaps the best known of all flower shows in the world and is a coming together of spectacular displays from all over the globe. Everyone from royalty to the general public all throng to see the gardens that exhibitors have managed to create from scratch in the weeks leading up to the festival, as well as the formal marquees. The Chelsea Flower Show gold medal is the thing that many growers aspire to achieving at some point in their career and all that effort makes the show so enjoyable.
There are hundreds of events to choose from for the whole family just waiting to be discovered. If your day out has inspired you, the memories of it may give you pleasure throughout the year.
