You can find lovely Canadian flowers growing in the forests, gardens and along the roadsides all throughout Canada. These are a little different than some you may be used too but they definitely have a unique beauty to each and every one.
In Saskatchewan the West Red Lily can be located and was named the flower of this county around the 1940's. These beauties are found in meadows and smaller forest lands. They carry a vibrant red color to them and a flickering of gold within their centers.
Spread over the miles between Quebec and British Columbia you will spy dazzling Wild Roses. These are found in many lovely colors and are mostly seen in roadsides and forests naturally.
Did you know that instead of a country flower the Canadians use the brilliance of the Maple Leaf to signify their country and it adorns everything from flags, hats, shirts and even tags for cars.
On the exquisite Island of Prince Edward you will spy dainty Lady's Slippers which are in full array in the spring seasons. These grow in shady places and in the forests of the island. The petals of this flower look like delicate slippers a lady might wear, hence its name.
In the spring months until the end of May you will notice striking Pacific Dogwoods blooming as they tower toward the brilliant blue skies.
Mayflowers are a big part of history as they are named in commemoration of the great ship the pilgrims used "The Mayflower". Early settlers thought this the perfect name for the flowers they first saw that spring time season. These wildly paint the whole coastlines from the North Eastern Americas.
In Ontario you can see White Trilliums. In the spring months these flowers dot the landscape of the forests. This flower has only three leaves and three petals that's why it is named trillium.
Quebec is home to the Delicate Blue Flags. These flowers have contributed to the landscape here from 1936 on when they were introduced here for the first time.
Purple Violets are accustomed to New Brunswick as their origin spot for growing vastly. Beautiful little violet and darker blue flowers adorn the forests that are here as well as in meadows along the country roads.
Yukon Territory has quite an unusual flower called a Fire weed. These grow great on places where they have been fires recently and are full of endurance. They have vivid bright red and pink in darker hues on them and are very tall. These also flourish around rivers edge and the sides of roads in the country.
A truly unique and interesting plant called the Pitcher Plant can be found growing in Labrador and Newfoundland. This flower can actually water itself. Water fills the top like a water pitcher would and then as water and some insects are trapped within the plants holding area they digest them for nutrients and food.
Flowers are all over the world and in different hues, shapes and climates. Finding rare gems within them all is always worth a quick stop on your daily routine to admire and enjoy the beauty that is nature and all around us such as these special Canadian flowers.
