How To Pick The Correct Bouquet For A Special Event

A trip to a florist for the correct bouquet may be a nerve-racking experience, as every flower shop gives you plenty of choices. The diversity in flowers is quite mind boggling, but the job is made somewhat simpler by the fact that almost every flower of every colour has some significance associated to it, which makes it appropriate for a particular occasion. Once you are aware of this meaning, you would be able to reduce your options to a small set, from which you can easily take your pick for your bouquet.

Since the Victorian era , and perhaps even before that, flowers of all kinds have come to symbolize different feelings. Red roses represent sincerity in love, and yellow roses represent love that is less physical and more like companionship. Even tulips and carnations in their variety of colours, each have a different meaning to communicate.

It is traditional and a prevalent practice to present bouquets to a couple on their marriage day. In such situations, the best bet is to have bouquets and arrangements that mirror the theme or season of the marriage. A nice blend of red and white flowers is ideal for weddings that follow traditional customs, whereas nothing can be better than a bouquet of spring flowers for a springtime marriage.

Colourful and bright flowers should be reserved for happy occasions like anniversaries and birthdays, and flowers like roses, daisies and chrysanthemums are the best for bouquets meant for such occasion s. For scholastic successes like graduation, the selection of flowers should be both cheerful and subtle. Lilies are a good idea in such cases, and people usually prefer to mix 3-4 colours of the flower for an aesthetic effect.

Flowers like white carnations are the most appropriate selection for sad occasions like funerals. A white bouquet or wreath conveys that the giver wishes the soul of the departed to rest in peace. An unwell person confined to his or her bed should be presented with a bunch of colourful tropical blooms, as such colours of vitality are seen as wishing for restoration of health and bringing the sick person back to his feet in no time.

Picking the correct bouquet for an occasion might seem like a very complicated task, but the professional advice of a florist can immensely help you in this respect. If you are buying flowers from a good florist in Singapore, then the salespeople there will happily guide you in making the right choice for your purpose.
